Matt Hannah is a Minneapolis-based folk Americana singer-songwriter. His sophomore album Dreamland (2017) was noted by the Star Tribune and City Pages and called “inspired” by BABYSUE. His third full-length studio album House of Illusion (March 2022) charted on NACC 200 and was lauded as a “standout album” by WVIA Host George Graham. His music faithfully blends his love of Americana songwriters with a passion for the riff-based intensity of 90s rock.

"a textbook example of a tasteful rootsy singer-songwriter record"

Matt Hannah’s third LP House of Illusion (March 8, 2022) examines the desire to carve out a space of illusion—a place of magic and art—protected from the world outside. A fan of film director Ingmar Bergman, Hannah has always felt drawn to the idea of drawing a “magical circle” around yourself to keep reality out and enchantments in.
A natural follow-up to Dreamland (2017), an “Americana fantasy” exploring how “dreams hold no allegiance to reality” (City Pages feature), House of Illusion explores the intimate spaces where that magical circle can endure—from a childhood bedroom, to a vintage guitar shop, to the last surviving flophouse on New York City’s Bowery.
